This NYC suburb made the "2023 Best Places to Live in America" list

The mass transition to remote work has allowed people to have more flexibility when it comes to choosing where to live. Since the start of the pandemic, nearly five million people in the U.S. have relocated to a new place, and 19 million more said they are planning to move in the near future. Those looking to migrate could take advantage of the annual Niche ranking of the best places to live in the United States.  

Suburbs and small towns in California, Virginia, and Pennsylvania climbed to the top of Niche’s 2023 list of the best places to live in America. Niche ranked 17,932 towns and neighborhoods using data from the U.S. Census, FBI, Bureau of Labor Statistics, and CDC, as well as resident reviews. The company looked at the following measures: affordability, the local housing market, neighborhood diversity, area public schools, and walkability. 

For the first fourth year in a row, Chesterbrook, Pennsylvania, was named the best place to live in the United States. With a population of only 5,457, this Philly suburb is best known for its parks, laid-back lifestyle, and excellent schools. The local Conestoga Senior High School ranked as the No. 2 best public high school in the state. The median home value in Chesterbrook is $350,200. 

Great Neck Gardens, Long Island, is the only New York City suburb that made the Niche’s top 10 list of the best places to live in the U.S. This Long Island town has high scores in public schools, housing, and outdoor activities. One of its top-rated public education institutions is Great Neck South High School. It ranks sixth best in the state. Homes in Great Neck Gardens have a median value of $941,500.
