Potential homebuyers are most interested in these 10 US neighborhoods

by Verus Real Estate

Zillow, the renowned real estate marketplace, is no longer just a website where people search for homes. It evolved beyond its traditional role and transitioned into a social media platform where people look for inspiration and spend hours looking at listings, similar to scrolling through an Instagram or Facebook feed. In 2022, Zillow attracted a whooping 10.5 billion visits, up 66 percent from 2017.

Although page visits do not exactly translate into home sales, they help identify the most popular destinations for potential homebuyers. In its recent report, HouseFresh, an indoor air quality website, analyzed 108,000 active Zillow listings in the 100 most populous US cities to find the most in-demand neighborhoods. The company looked at page views and the number of days a listing spent on the market.

Northeast Dallas, a neighborhood in Dallas, Texas, saw the most interest from Zillow users. Homes listed for sale in this neighborhood generated 36,113 daily views on Zillow. Homes in Northeast Dallas have a median value of $440,350, up 2.6 percent year-over-year. This neighborhood attracts potential buyers with its excellent public and private schools, countless parks, and easy access to downtown Dallas.

“Homebuyer outlook has changed since the pandemic hit,” the report reads. “Owners have been thinking about second homes to escape to, bigger suburban houses with room to work from home… or downsizing while they rebuild their careers. This is reflected in Zillow view patterns, where relatively affordable areas stand shoulder to shoulder with more expensive, glamorous neighborhoods.”

Hollywood Hills, a coveted neighborhood in Los Angeles, California, was the second most-browsed destination on Zillow. This neighborhood counted 32,216 daily property views. However, with the median home value of nearly $2 million, Hollywood Hills is likely attracting more viewers than actual buyers. Camelback East in Phoenix, Arizona, and La Jolla in San Diego, California, took third and fourth places on the HouseFresh list.

New York’s Upper East Side rounded up the top five list of most desirable US neighborhoods. Upper East Side homes listed for sale on Zillow received 24,125 daily views. This neighborhood has long been in demand among NYC homebuyers thanks to highly-rated schools and proximity to Central Park. The Upper West Side is the second-most-popular NYC neighborhood. It has 24,125 daily views. Chelsea is No. 3, with 10,136 daily views on Zillow.
