NoHo is the most liveable NYC neighborhood for renters, RentHop says
New York City neighborhoods vary in perks, cons, and overall atmosphere. From historic Greenwich Village to artistic Bed-Stuy, New York City has something for everyone. However, the definition of a perfect neighborhood is highly subjective. There are many things NYC renters need to consider before choosing where they want to settle.
Recently, Renthop published a list of the best places to live in each borough. NoHo was named the most renter-friendly neighborhood in New York City thanks to its convenience, few rat sightings, zero dog waste complaints, and few housing maintenance code violations. NoHo is best known for its historic architecture, unique shops, and trendy bars and restaurants.
Financial District climbed to second place on RentHop’s list of best neighborhoods for renters. This neighborhood has a great number of transportation options. In addition, Financial District ranked high on renter friendliness, which takes into account heat complaints, housing maintenance code violations, and a percentage of renter-occupied units. This neighborhood also had very few motor vehicle collisions in the fourth quarter of 2022.
Downtown Brooklyn and Fort Greene topped RentHop’s list of most liveable Brooklyn neighborhoods for renters. New Yorkers looking to move to this borough should also add Red Hook to their list. This neighborhood is the perfect place for people who enjoy a quiet atmosphere and open spaces. According to RentHop, Red Hook has the most park coverage of the top 5 neighborhoods in Brooklyn.
Long Island City was named the best neighborhood for renters in Queens and the 15th best in New York City. This neighborhood has good access to parks and a large number of subway stations. On the flip side, renters living in Long Island City complain about housing maintenance code violations, noise, and heat. Woodside and Astoria have also made the top 3 list of the most renter-friendly neighborhoods in Queens.
RentHop analyzed 190 neighborhoods across New York City. The apartment search platform ranked them using the following metrics: population density, park coverage, and the number of city bike stations. RentHop also awarded points for cleanliness, which includes dog waste and rodent complaints, quietness, and safety. In addition, the ranking took into account heat complaints, housing maintenance code violations, and a share of renter-occupied units.
