Leonardo da Vinci’s former apartment in Bologna, Italy, is up for sale
Born in a small Tuscan town, Leonardo da Vinci embodied the Renaissance man. Although he is best known for his paintings, such as Mona Lisa and The Last Supper, da Vinci's interests and expertise ranged far beyond art. In his 67 years, the world-famous polymath lived in Milan, Florence, Rome, and Amboise.
Before moving to France in 1516, Leonardo da Vinci briefly stayed in Bologna. The house that once welcomed the renowned artist is currently available for purchase. The former da Vinci’s home, also known as the Emilia Residence, sits in the heart of Bologna, minutes away from Piazza Maggiore, the city’s central square.

The 15th-century apartment has five bedrooms and four bathrooms. The future owner could access their new home via a private entrance located in the courtyard. This remarkable property was designed by architect Aristotele Fioravanti on a foundation that dates back to the early 1300s. Leonardo da Vinci's former apartment encompasses 6,673 square feet across three floors.
This historic home has been recently renovated, enhancing its original features and adding some modern twists. On the first floor of this Bologna house, you will find a first living room, a large dining room, a kitchen, four bedrooms, and three bathrooms. The attic on the second floor acts as an independent apartment.

This notable residence will charm you with its Leonardesque murals, coffered ceilings, grand marble staircase, and monumental fireplaces. It also comes with independent heating and a parking space inside the courtyard. Leonardo da Vinci’s home in Bologna is protected by the Superintendency of Fine Arts.
The Italian polymath moved into this apartment in 1515, according to The Spaces. The current owner of this property, Italian soccer player Beppe Signori, would like to sell it for €3.2 million, ($3,502,464), Wanted in Rome reports. The listing is available via Italy Sotheby's International Realty.
