Airbnb invites you to spend a night in the Parisian theater that inspired “The Phantom of the Opera”

Airbnb has no shortage of unique rentals for travelers from all over the world. However, this time, the short-term rental website offers a rare opportunity to book an overnight stay at the Palais Garnier in Paris, France. This historic opera house inspired one of the world’s longest-running and most recognizable musicals, The Phantom of the Opera. 

For this unique experience, Palais Garnier will transform one of its most exclusive private viewing areas, the Box of Honour, into an elevated bedroom where two lucky guests will be able to spend a night. The booking also includes a tour of Palais Garnier’s hidden areas, such as private archives and a famous underground lake featured in the novel. The one-of-a-kind stay will take place this summer.

“My great-grandfather’s classic story has inspired so many people through the years,” said Véronique Leroux, the host of this stay. “This is the perfect time to honor him and welcome ‘phans’ to the famous setting of his much-loved novel for a once-in-a-lifetime stay.”

The Phantom of the Opera musical is based on the 1910 novel of the same name written by Gaston Leroux. It is the longest-running show in Broadway history, with more than 140 million viewers worldwide. This year, the legendary musical will take place in 15 countries across the globe before ending the season on Broadway. 

The list of activities reserved for the guests of Palais Garnier includes a private ballet initiation with one of the Opera de Paris Ballet dancers and dinner at a historic rehearsal room. Two lucky fans will also be invited to attend an exclusive recital from the Paris Opera Academy, completed with champagne and appetizers. In addition, the rooftop of the opera house will allow you to enjoy unparalleled views of Paris. 

The unique experience will be available for booking on Airbnb on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, from 12 p.m. EST. The one-night stay will take place at Palais Garnier on Sunday, July 16, 2023. It will cost you only €37 (USD 39.5) before taxes and fees.
