A 1,000-year-old manor house with ties to the royal family lists for $13.5 million
This historic home is like no other. With foundations dating back to 1016, Great Tangley Manor is believed to be the oldest continuously inhabited house in the United Kingdom. This property, which is currently listed for sale for £11 million ($13.5 million), also comes with an autograph from King George V.
The British countryside home sits on 10 acres of land in Guildford, Surrey. According to the listing, the property has 10 bedrooms, 6 bathrooms, and 7 living rooms that spread across two wings – Great Tangley Manor and Great Tangley Manor West. Both wings have independent entrances and beautiful reception spaces.

Some of this home's details have a long history attached to them. For example, the timbers in the dining room come from the Spanish Armada. One of the former owners of this property allegedly received them in return for helping the Crown during the Anglo-Spanish War.
This estate welcomed many distinguished guests, including Edward VII and Queen Alexandra. In addition, Queen Mary and King George V also visited this property along with their 17-year-old son King George VI. The signatures from King George V could be found on the windows in the dining and dressing rooms.

Although this house has a millennium-old history, it also got some modern features. The current owners installed a wood pellet heating system and three electric car charging points. Once you acquire this estate, you will also have access to the heated indoor swimming pool, a sauna, a tennis court, and a WWII air raid shelter.
"The house, although impressive in stature and size, is welcoming, reassuring, and charming,” Oliver Custance Baker, head of Strutt & Parker's country department, told Architectural Digest. "Homes like Great Tangley Manor don't come to the market very often and the launch of its sale is yet just another moment in this building's long history.”
